Dear Prospective Parent:
Let me be the first to thank you for your interest in Alexandria Academy for academic year 2010-2011. The heart of any great school is its student body, and in gathering the Academy's first classes I am always on the lookout for bright, eager and curious young scholars – and with them we shall build the finest independent school in the region.
"Latin" will be a new school in 2010-2011 insofar as it will be our first year, but our educational program isn’t new at all. In fact, our classical curriculum very much represents a real “back to basics” movement that so many parents have been seeking for their children. Our college preparatory regimen will be challenging and motivating, fit for students who both love to learn and are willing to work hard to achieve their goals. The schoolhouse will be a place where master teachers convey not only knowledge but a passion for learning. The Academy will be a school community where parents, too, are fully engaged in helping their children reach their fullest potential.
Moreover, Alexandria Academy will be a school where character counts. Based upon the noble examples and moral precepts of our namesake, George Washington, the Academy will seek to instill in every young scholar a sense of moral purpose and responsible citizenship. In short, it will be a safe and dignified place to learn, read, play, sing, draw, and make new friends – all the business of growing up.
In this admissions packet you will find everything you need to complete the application process. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me directly (tsoule@alexandria-academy.org) with any questions you may have.
Best Regards,
Thomas A. Soule
